Traditional Crafts Safeguarding, Sustaining Intangible Heritage, Economic Development, Decent Job Creation, innovation, traditional workshops support.

Project Goal:

Safeguarding traditional handicrafts of historic Cairo, as cultural heritage preservation act, developing their products, creating a new generation of artisans to work on development and sustainability of these handicrafts. This is by creating enabling environment through developmental interventions for some workshops capitalizing on their master artisans to empower the aimed new generation of artisans.

Project Objectives:

• Enhance and develop designs for 40 handicrafts workshop of Historic Cairo.
• Develop the quality assurance process and finishing standards of handicrafts workshop of Historic Cairo.
• Empower handicrafts workshop of Historic Cairo by new and modern designs fitting their standards.
• Offering 60 decent jobs for new generation of handicrafts artisans
• Introduce interventions supporting commercial linkages and marketing
• Empowering design-craft clusters to safeguard this sector
• Apply preservation and sustainability guidelines by acts and interventions in 40 of handicrafts workshops of Historic Cairo
